A New Way to Reduce and Reuse with Our Products

A Clean Jar:

  • has the label removed
  • is free from wax residue
  • has the wick holder removed
  • is free from label adhesive on the sides
  • has only a small amount of warning label adhesive

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR CANDLE JAR

The Oven Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180° F
  2. Line baking tray with foil or parchment paper
  3. Remove labels from jars
  4. Chip out large pieces of wax* using a spoon
  5. Place jars upside down on tray
  6. Place in oven for 10-15 minutes or until all wax melts
  7. Carefully remove from oven
  8. Using hot pads, move jars to paper towel to cool
  9. Once cool enough to handle, wash jars with soap and water
  10. Make sure to remove wick holder (use a spoon or knife)
  11. Remove as much of the bottom label as possible

The Freezer Method:

  1. Remove label from jar
  2. Place jar in freezer overnight
  3. Remove jar from freezer and chip out all large pieces of wax using a spoon
  4. Make sure to remove wick holder
  5. Wash jars with soap and warm water, making sure to remove all wax and adhesive residue from walls of jar
  6. Remove as much of the bottom label as possible

FAQs

Yes! We're sorry about this frustration. A few of our labels are made from a material that does not come off easily. If this is the case for your jar (you'll know it if it happens to you) then don't worry about removing the label, we'll take care of it!

Unfortunately the cost and carbon emissions associated with shipping back jars does not make it a viable option. If you can't make it to one of our locations to return the jar keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming post on ideas for reusing jars in your home!

Unfortunately at this time we don't have a way to remove the residue on the rims of these jars that is left behind by the protective liner. We are looking into more eco-friendly liner options so that you can bring these guys back as well!

Unfortunately, in order to reuse used glass packaging for skincare products we are required to heavily sanitize them. We don't have this capability at our factory just yet but we are working on it! If you're interested in zero waste lotion options, you can bring your own packaging to our Remington Shop and fill it up using our Bulk Lotion Stations!

Unfortunately the lids that we use will probably not fit these jars so we cannot accept them right now. We're sorry!
