6 Reasons to Shop Small This Small Business Saturday Holiday Season
6 Reasons to Shop Small
This Holiday Season, Small Business Saturday, and Year-Round!
- You’re supporting a Creator’s Dream instead of lining the pockets of a CEO. We, and other small business owners, pour our heart and soul into what we do. Our businesses are the realization of years of dreaming and hard work and we sell our creations not to get rich, but just to be able to continue doing what we love. We have no desire to attain yacht ownership through soap sales - we just want a comfortable life doing what makes us happy =)
- Small business owners don’t cut corners for the sake of saving a few pennies. We have no shareholders demanding record profits year after year. There’s no need to continue whittling down our costs until suddenly your glass is being shipped with no cushioning so it arrives broken 50% of the time (just a...random example). We are happy to spend a few additional cents per order if it improves our customers’ experience. Making y’all happy IS the bottom line. 🙂
- Small business owners support each other and the maker community is anything but cutthroat. We innovate for the sake of creation, not competition, and there’s nothing we love more than sharing what we’ve learned with other businesses and makers. Any small business succeeding is a success for all small businesses because it expands our community, and the people we have met in the maker scene remain some of our closest friends. ❤️
- Customers are actual people to us not just a number (radical, we know). Small business owners have a genuine appreciation for every customer that they have, and we will almost always go out of our way to help you or make your experience better. If you don’t like a product that you’ve purchased we will happily refund it - even if you’ve used it all! We want people to love what they buy from us, and we don’t want your money if you don’t ❤️

Shopping small keeps your money in local communities.American Express estimates that for every dollar spent at a small business in the US, 67 cents stays in the local community. Makes sense to us - we spend a decent chunk of our paychecks on Nana’s burritos =) But in addition to that, your money pays employees that live in Baltimore, purchases resale goods from other local makers, and is used to support community initiatives here. When we grow we create jobs here and we don’t outsource.

Small businesses create and foster a sense of community. From our Night Markets to our Remington Brunch Club, we adore being a part of our community. Getting to know our customers has been one of the greatest gifts we’ve gotten from this crazy soap company, and many of you have grown into close and cherished friends. We take our role in our neighborhood very seriously and we make every effort to have a positive impact where and when we can.
